Even whilst facing the vagaries of history and the tastes of the age, the spirit of Arita’s people in their pursuit of crafting timeless ceramics has remained unflagging and has been inherited by the current generation sustaining Arita today.

2016. A year destined to be a turning point in four centuries of Arita. 16 teams of prominent international designers have been brought together from far and wide to give creation to the new porcelain brand of 2016/.

2016/ consists of two ranges; the Edition series handled by Creative Directors Teruhiro Yanagihara and Scholten&Baijings, with 15 other teams putting together the Standard series. Coming from an array of cultural backgrounds, the designers have re-interpreted classic Arita-ware, harnessing all the craft’s techniques to usher forth a new creative standard that the world will embrace as part of everyday living.
