Kueng Caputo
Swiss design duo Kueng Caputo proposed creating a collection that truly pushed Arita’s renowned craftsmanship to its maximum limits. Even today, a range of procedures in Arita’s ceramic industry are still carried out by hand especially those processes heavily reliant on extreme attention to detail. The standout characteristics of this series, comprising a flower vase, plate and bowl are the geometric forms sculpted by the craftsman and the use of an airbrush known as fukitsuki or ‘airblast’ which harnessed a special technique to apply subtle gradations of colour to the pieces.This intentional application of graded colour by the craftsmen involved gives this collection its outstanding geometric appearance.
スイス人デザイナーデュオのクーン・カプートは、有田の技術を最大限に生かしたコレクションを提案しました。有田の磁器生産は現在も多くの手作業や細やかな注意を要する工程を含んでいます。フラワーベースとボウルとプレートからなるこのシリーズは、職人による幾何学的な形状と、「吹付」と呼ばれる エアブラシで色付けする特別な技術を用いた、柔らかな色のグラデーションが特徴です。職人によって意図的に作られたグラデーションは、幾何学的な形態に現れています。

The young and engaging Swiss-born partnership of Sarah Kueng and Lovis Caputo have worked together since they were both students of design at the HGKZ Zurich. Kueng Caputo practice design as response. Their works have included the conceptual project ‘Copy’ and recently a playful approach to materials and applied decoration as seen in series such as Never Too Much. There is an emphasis also, says Kueng Caputo, on understatement and improvisation.
Their first 'Five Stars Cardboard' installations at the Salone Satellite in 2007 went on to be shown in South Korea, Basel and New York. Kueng Caputo is represented by salon 94 NYC.
サラ・クーンとロヴィス・カプートは、共にスイスでインダストリアルデザインを学び、学生時代から共同で作品制作を手がける。2005 年にスイスにデザインスタジオを共同設立。2007 年ミラノサローネでの初展示『Five Stars Cardboard』 が話題となり、ソウル、バーゼル、ニューヨークと巡回。以来、控えめであり即興性があるという芸術性の高いコンセプチャルな手法で、様々な領域でコミッ ションワークを手がけている。京都芸術大学などからのワークショップのオファー、スイス国内では多数の代表的な学校、企業などの公共スペースのデザイン、 国際的なギャラリーにてオブジェや家具の提案や、インスタレーションなどを手がける。
